Today, August 24, Ukraine is celebrating 28 years of its independence.
Official celebrations took place in the centre in Kyiv on the Alley of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.
The celebrations are held with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
August 24 is the main national holiday for millions of Ukrainians, the nation that is now again struggling to save independence and sovereignty.
Independence Day was usually celebrated with a military parade held in Kyiv.
This year celebrations of Ukraine’s Independence Day have got a new format. Instead of holding a military parade, the state allocated UAH 300 million in bonuses to servicemen.
